Awards
I've been so busy I forgot to update the blog on probably the most important film news of the past year. BAGATELLE won Best Short Film at Portobello Film Festival and here are some pictures of me and Nick posing with the award. The ceremony was at the awesome Tabernacle in Notting Hill.

RUSHES
Last night was the 2nd screening of BAGATELLE in the Rushes Soho Shorts festival. The film got a great response and was in the company of a number of really top quality shorts from around the globe. Three hilarious Australian films, a 1 minute icelandic comedy masterpiece and one of the most amazing 12 minute works of film I've ever seen - Next Floor, were some of my hilights. And BAGATELLE of course.
The film has now screened in each ICA 1 & 2 as part of the festival and it was a real joy to be a part of the whole thing. Thanks Joe, Carla, Sam - and everyone else working at the fest!

SHOTS OF DIALOGUE
We are in Dinan - a small town near to Rennes for the Shots of Dialogue film festival. It is so beautiful here I think I will have to return every summer! There are only 7 films selected for competition and yesterday there was an open air screening with loads of kids in attendance which was really great. We ended up playing an international game of football against these french kids - just like in the movie. They were really good though and slaughtered us!! The oldest one could only have been 11!

PALAIS F
Screening today in Palais F was amazing. All 35 seats were full and people were sitting on the floor. It was very exciting to show a film in the palais at Cannes. The other films in the selection were also really interesting. Also - the screening was listed in Variety!!!!

Danny Lennon
Today we went to a reception at the Quebec tent hosted by Danny Lennon the short film guru who selected our film from 2000 in the short film corner for one of his programmes.
Definitely the best party in Cannes - We met the minister for culture for Quebec and a filmmaker from New York Chloe Domont who arrived that day from New York hearing her film was selected only the day before! Her film is really good check out: http://www.chloedomont.com/
We spoke to Danny and it turns out the film he's produced plays 30 - 40 festivals a month! That means he must send out at least 2 dvds a day every day of the year, including Xmas! What an inspiration.

GO GET SOME ROSEMARY
Just saw a great film by the Safdie brothers at Cannes. Its called Go Get Some Rosemary and its a touching, funny, eccentric tale of a single dad trying to stay close to his two sons in New York. They've had three films in Cannes in one calendar year. Legends!
